More blackboard- nearly caught up!

WASHers:

I've nearly caught up with grading; the grades on Blackboard are becoming an accurate reflection of your final grades for the class as we approach the end of the semester. Take a look; those of you who are doing as well as you want can be reassured; those of you who are missing assignments need to think seriously about turning them in/completing them. Remember- you need to pass ALL THREE sections of WASH with a C or better, or we'll be seeing you again next fall!

Tomorrow: stuffed animal surgery!

Tomorrow after lunch we will begin our annual inflatable project by cutting open innocent stuffed toys!

Some supplies you will need:
1. a stuffed animal you don't like very much
2. sharp scissors or  knife
3. hot glue gun
4. aluminum foil
5. a clothes iron, if you have one
6. black or clear utility plastic sheeting (sold in rolls at hardware stores)

Your grades (some of them) now on Blackboard

I've been busy over the weekend posting the grades I've collected so far on Blackboard, SHSU's online admin system.
In 3D I've posted 2 grades:
Cardboard Nature Objects
Modular Madness (detailed comment sheets are coming back Tuesday)

In 2D: I've posted 4 grades:
10-square compositions
6-dot comps from adjectives
human dot photos (although I haven't handed them back yet!)
patterns from letterforms

Take a look- if you're missing anything, turn it in ASAP, as a late grade, however bad, is much better than a 0!

A reprieve! (and a ruler)

Dear WASHers,

One alert student among you has pointed out that I mis-spoke in class- the video analysis of the short youtube clips is due MARCH 8, as it says in the assignment sheet on the blog, NOT tomorrow. (I thought the deadline seemed a little too short!) What's DUE TOMORROW after lunch is your FINAL MONOLOGUE video. We will be screening and critiquing them as fast as we can collect them and get them onto the computer or off youtube, so send me links ASAP.

AND, if you don't have a ruler in your locker already, bring one tomorrow morning (for a preview of WHY look to your right!)

Supplies for Tuesday, March 1

For WASH class Tuesday, you will need to bring a lot of inexpensive paper (drawing paper or newsprint) a big bottle of black india ink, pencils, pens, brushes, and a wide-mouthed jar or bowl to dip ink out of. Also some long, skinny twigs if you've got any.

In the afternoon, we will be looking at your monologue videos and shooting some more; bring your laptops and cameras.

Bio map homework dates

Last week's lecture homework, the Bio-map project, will be due and critiqued in class on the morning of Tuesday, March 22.

BUT before then, you need to have made your many lists, and blogged a progress report, with pictures, by Friday, March 11.

The project is open-ended:  autobiography+map (in the broadest sense) Amaze us!

Google goes Brancusi!

Yesterday Google honored Constantin Brancusi's 135th birthday with a special logo made from images of his sculptures. Did you recognize "Bird in Space" from your writing assignment?
